A candidate in the IECEx Personnel Competence Certificate recently passed all nine of the units which he sought from Baseefa – becoming the most highly-qualified engineer in the world in terms of recognition in the IECEx scheme.
Sean Segond von Banchet, owner of the SvB ExTech hazardous area consultancy and a hazardous area trainer in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia is the only person to have passed nine out of the 10 possible personnel competence units which are offered by Baseefa.
Sean commented: “I am elated to be awarded these IECEx competences and am extremely proud that I am able to set an example for hazardous area competence. As I am an advocate for the IECEx certification schemes, you could say I’m putting my money where my mouth is. These qualifications will complement my Australian ones, and are a culmination and a testament to my commitment in hazardous area safety.
“The assessments were very challenging, which I appreciated as I do not take the subject matter lightly. Each step was handled by Baseefa in a most professional and courteous manner.”
Allan Ogden, who manages the scheme for Baseefa commented: “Sean is a trainer himself, and we were highly impressed by his commitment and overall knowledge of the subject.”
Another successful candidate who recently passed two units of the IECEx scheme was Vincent Paul, the owner of the Vangle hazardous areas consultanty, based in Austin, Texas. Vincent commented: “Baseefa’s service was good and professional, and I am excited to have obtained these certificates which I hope will help develop my business.”
The rigorous tests required for the IECEx certificates took place over a week’s intensive examination at Baseefa’s training facility at Tameside College, Ashton under Lyme, Greater Manchester. As with all other successful candidates, Sean and Vincent’s certificates will be subject to a review after 18 months and a re-assessment after three years.
