Now that the dust has settled following the general election, the initial reaction from industry has been generally positive as the result reduced the political uncertainty that may well have resulted from another coalition government. The (albeit slim) Conservative majority has no doubt given the economy a short term boost.

Our focus is starting to turn to the Sensors & Instrumentation exhibition taking place in September. The event, now in its sixth year, promises to be bigger and better than ever. Full details can be found on the event’s dedicated website. Make sure you check Electrical Engineering in the coming months for event updates and full exhibitor and seminar details.

We will be giving the show an in-depth preview in our July/August issue but for June we’ll be taking a closer look at the recent developments in the cabling industry in the latest of our series of supplements. This addition to the June issue is packed full of insight and the latest technology and product details from the industry’s key players, icluding igus, Legrand and Hellermann Tyton.

Other topics up for discussion in the main issue this month include UPS technology, energy efficiency, hazardous area equipment and transformers and switchgear.
