ZERO, a renewable energy company based in Exeter, exhibited at Ecobuild (3rd – 5th March), the UK’s leading event for sustainable design, construction and energy, based at ExCel, London. The companies self-built exhibition stand, designed and constructed by the team, showcased its capabilities as well as highlight their commitment to sustainability and the environment.

Working at the forefront of innovative technology, ZERO offers premium carbon neutral heating products, from biomass boilers to heat pumps and solar thermal systems and Zero’s stand has been built using one of the company’s bespoke containers to create a working biomass unit, that will occupy the 80m2 stand. On display was a pellet boiler and storage system, one of the company’s most popular products, a buffer tank, a 10m2 solar thermal panel, as well as an organic juice bar, allowing visitors to the stand to immerse themselves in the company’s green ethos. Furniture on the 14 tonne stand has been made from reprocessed, locally sourced wood, with all materials used on the stand adhering to the eco-friendly philosophy at the heart of our business.

Zero’s managing director, Finian Parrick, explained: “Not only does the stand showcase what we have to offer, it allows heating engineers and end users to view the technology and see it in operation. We could have outsourced the project to an exhibition construction company, but bringing it in house meant we could lessen the environmental impact that a traditional plastic exhibition stand may have created. The custom container will be reusable and can be adapted for future shows, without any waste.”

“It has been a fun challenge for our marketing, design and container construction team. They are more used to working with innovative renewable heating products, so configuring the stand has been a change from their normal day-to-day activity.”

The Ecobuild exhibition was a great opportunity for ZERO to showcase their products to the entire built environment supply chain, with around 45,000 attendees predicted over the 3 days. This year the event has attracted some of the industry’s leading names, with a host of big name speakers, including Ed Davey, Secretary of State for Energy & Climate Change, Natalie Bennett, Head of the Green Party, Lord John Prescott, former Deputy Prime Minister and UK negotiator for the Kyoto Protocol on climate change and Alistair Campbell, former British PM spokesman.

“We are really excited to exhibit and with even further confidence returning to the construction market it is an exciting time for the whole team. Our vision is to excel at every level and ultimately we want our name to be synonymous with top quality. Ecobuild gives us the platform to strengthen our brand nationally and, we hope, one day, internationally.”
