Hammond’s 1591 family is available in five versions: 1591, 1591 economy, 1591XX, 1591XX economy and 1591T, all in a wide range of sizes and features.
Hammond’s 1591 family is available in five versions: 1591, 1591 economy, 1591XX, 1591XX economy and 1591T. The wide choice of sizes and features makes it one of the most versatile ranges of small rectangular plastic enclosures on the market.
The 1591 and 1591XX differ in that the 1591 have multiple slots on 3.0mm spacing moulded into all four sides of the base for vertically mounting 1.6mm PCBs; the 1591XX are smooth sided with PCB mounting bosses in the lid and base so that PCBs can be mounted horizontally.
The difference between the standard and economy versions of the 1591 and the 1591XX are that the lids of the standard versions are secured by machine screws into embedded brass bushes, making them ideal for multiple opening and closing. The economy versions use self-tapping screws into plastic posts. The other main difference is that the standard versions are moulded from UL94-V0 flame retardant, the economy versions from general purpose ABS.
