Eaton Bussmann engineer Harold Handcock has been awarded the Engineer of the Year award for Eaton’s electrical business. The award, which is voted for by the whole of the engineering community within Eaton, recognises the overall contribution made to the business including product innovation, technical excellence, sales growth and training.

In a 37-year career Harold has become an expert in medium voltage fuses, developing a number of new products and patenting several technologies. More recently he has been instrumental in pioneering fuses for the growing hybrid electric vehicle market and for the renewable energy sector.

A champion of people development Harold has created his own training sessions for engineers throughout EMEA and India, mentors both graduate and apprentice intake and works with two local universities to recruit young talent.

Commenting on the award, Simon Pinkney, product marketing director, said: ”This is truly a great achievement for Harold and thoroughly deserved. To be chosen by your engineering peers is a real triumph and it is fantastic recognition of just what a great job Harold does. All of the team here are immensely proud of him.”
