Respected engineering professional, Shahid Khan, has joined ECA’s technical team as technical manager.

Khan will provide ECA members with invaluable insight into developments in areas such as building automation and control systems (BACS), smart technologies and artificial intelligence (AI), creating a unique depth and breadth of tools and information.

ECA’s technical team also includes technical manager, Gary Parker, and energy and emerging technologies solutions advisor, Luke Osborne. The team is led by technical director, Mike Smith.

Smith commented: “It’s great to have a proven, talented expert like Shahid on board at ECA. The electrotechnical and engineering services industry is constantly evolving, and Shahid brings the increased expertise and insight into growing markets we need to be a thought leader in the industry.

“Our newly strengthened team will also help us to develop significant new member services and make sure our members are fully supported on technical developments.”

Khan’s electrotechnical career began in the domestic and commercial sector working for his father’s electrical contracting business. Having subsequently moved into training and assessment, he set up his own City & Guilds approved training company servicing major corporate and blue-chip clients.

Khan is also chief examiner and a technical author for EAL. He will soon complete a BSc (Hons) in Buildings Services Engineering at Leeds University and is expected to achieve a first class honours.
