H V Wooding have been awarded major long-term contracts with a leading European manufacture, which not only uses HV Wooding’s existing skills but pushes the company to develop new expertise. We are now supplying components and Busbars for power conversion systems, LV & MV converters, transformers and switchgear used in the manufacture of 2MW/5MW wind turbines. We have also supplied pressed laminations for 10kw/50kw small wind turbines.
H V Wooding has been able to continue to expand markets to include major international OEM’s and also by working with smaller development projects in new technology areas.
A core activity of the business is the manufacture of Busbars and Sub-assemblies to industry sectors as diverse as Electrical Switchgear, Power Electronics, Rail and Aerospace.
Providing a quick route to market using technology – Marine sector project
HV Wooding are also engaged in the manufacture of Busbars used within the electrical systems of the CVF Aircraft Carriers currently being built in the UK. The company has a philosophy of investing in state of the art manufacturing equipment in order to maintain a competitive advantage while also providing the market with the flexibility it demands. However it was the investment into 3D Solid Works that initially help secure this major contract.
With the ability to import customer models it is possible to design and detail the Busbar requirements for specific systems in a timescale that provides the customer with unprecedented lead-times. In this instance drawings are produced for all individual components and also a general assembly drawing that assists the customer in the assembly of the finished system.
Because HV Wooding are detailing the Busbars to fit customer electronic models as well as doing all the manufacturing this eliminates the potential for design errors and ensures the highest level of conformity in terms of quality and ease of assembly. More than 2500 unique part numbers and over 100 Busbar systems have been produced using this method with no delay in production.
