Hammond offers five main polycarbonate (PC) families for applications where the enclosure will be installed outside, in a harsh environment or where good impact resistance is essential

In addition, environmental sealing provides even greater protection for the housed equipment.

We offer five main families moulded in polycarbonate (PC) for applications where the enclosure will be installed outside, in a harsh environment or where good impact resistance is essential. In addition, environmental sealing, either to IP66 for the PCJ family or IP68 for the 1554/1555/1555F and 1557 families, provides even greater protection for the housed equipment.

The general properties of polycarbonate plastic are

• It is highly impact resistant. Some of our PC families are rated to IEC 62262:2021 IK08.
• It offers good high temperature rating, typically a maximum operating temperature of 110°C.
• For outdoor use it has good UV resistance, so is resistant to fading and embrittlement.
• It is naturally transparent and it can readily be tinted to give translucent enclosures in different colours.
• Can be easily modified in the field for device installation or cable entry.
