Visitors to the Pilz stand (D814) at the Drives and Controls exhibition in April will benefit from the advice of a team of machine safety experts, on-hand throughout the show to give advice on functional safety related control standards and applications, in particular regarding the necessary transition from EN 954-1 to EN ISO 13849-1 and EN 62061.
Live demonstrations and free copies will also be given of the latest version of the Pilz ‘PAScal Safety Calculator Software’, which caters for both Performance Level (EN ISO 13849-1) and Safety Integrity Level (EN 62061) and produces technical reports as required by the standards.
In addition to the stand, Pilz’ principal functional safety specialist, David Collier, will be delivering a seminar entitled ‘Clarifying the nature of safety reliability data’ and leading three of the daily Health and Safety Panel discussions covering functional safety topics that include:
- EN 954-1 is dead – what do I need to know about the replacement EN ISO 13849-1?
- CE Marking and Machinery Safety – what it is for, how it is achieved, what is required?
- The use of software and programmable safety – how do the latest standards deal with this, and what are the benefits?
Further stand highlights will include the IP67 rated Pilz Decentralised Periphery (PDP) safe distributed I/O solution for ‘cabinet-free connectivity’, the PSS4000 integrated standard and safety automation system, and the latest developments in the Pilz range of safety interlocks, RFID-based sensors, access control devices and light curtains.
