In the modern business landscape IT is an important factor in ensuring companies achieve their goals. As such the willingness to invest in technologies such as the cloud, Big Data or mobile computing is growing.

This, in turn, has led to the rise of the data centre – in terms of both size and number. Speaking to a provider of fibre optic and copper product solutions late last year I was informed that ten years ago the company installed a 10MW data centre – a big deal at the time. Today they are currently working on one that is 140MW! This is a clear indication as to the huge growth of data centres in the UK.

With this in mind, we have continued our successful series of supplements with the introduction of Data Centre Management into our February issue. We’ll get all the latest from this intriguing sector and speak to some of the key companies that are involved in it, including Canon Technologies, Legrand, Eaton and Airedale International. We will also be previewing the Data Centre World exhibition taking place at ExCel, London, on 11th – 12th March.

March looks set to be a busy month as the Maintec exhibition will also be taking place at the Birmingham NEC, 24th – 26th, where visitors will be able to see the latest technology from the world of maintenance, plant and asset management.
