A recent study by Vimcar has uncovered gaping holes in the security of the electrical service sector’s fleets: a shocking 1 in every 3 employers have experienced van theft. This is consistent with recent data suggesting that more than a third of all British businesses have a van stolen in the past year.

The electrical service study suggested that van misuse was also commonplace within the industry. 75% of employers restrict van use (only for business miles, for example) and 63% of businesses would like to be notified whenever these rules are broken – suggesting that these rules are often not followed.

The solution? 63% of those surveyed would purchase, or have already purchased, fleet tracking telematics. Fleet tracking would monitor the live location of employer’s vans and notify them of any suspicious activity.
