The Drives & Controls exhibition which took place at the Birmingham NEC from the 8th-10th April, covered the latest in mechanical power transmission, motion control and automation.

Being co-located with complementary shows Plant & Asset Management and Air-Tech, together with the Fluid Power & Systems Exhibition, the European Offshore & Energy Exhibition, as well as MACH, there was a high number of visitors over the course of the show. Yours truly headed off to Birmingham to see what was on offer. It was a busy and vibrant event, with interesting products on show as well as well attended seminars and panel sessions.

As for this issue, our April edition is itself focussing on the area of drives & controls, as well as cabling, hazardous area equipment, lighting, motors and electrical design software. We’ll also be taking a closer look at the Infrarail exhibition (page 10-11), which will be taking place at Earls Court in May and is of particular relevance to the electrical sector.
