Power management company Eaton has announced that its PowerXL range of variable speed drives (VSDs) have been approved for inclusion on the Energy Technology List (ETL) under the government’s Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme for meeting specific energy saving criteria.

The scheme allows users from the machine building, materials handling and building services sectors who install these products to claim 100% of their first year capital allowance on their investments.

Eaton’s PowerXL VSDs, which are available with ratings up to 250kW, offer users an easy to install, operator friendly and energy efficient solution for driving devices such as compressors and pumps. They are specifically designed to make the benefits of modern VSDs, which in many applications include large energy savings, readily and easily accessible.

To achieve this, they feature innovations that include support for Eaton’s SmartWire-DT connection and communication technology, an advanced auto-tune system, and energy optimiser functionality that, with light loads, automatically reduces the voltage applied to the motor and, therefore, its energy consumption.

PowerXL VSDs also offer connectivity to a wide range of networks and fieldbus systems and, to guarantee effective future proofing, they are compatible with IE2, IE3 and IE4 standards.
