CP Electronics’ sophisticated Rapid system has been specified for use within One Southampton Street, a newly refurbished office development in the heart of Covent Garden, London.   Rapid was specified for its flexibility as the system can be easily incorporated into any building design and can be easily configured to control specific rooms, floors or an entire multi-floor building.   The lighting control has played a large part in the building being granted BREEAM ‘excellent’.

The One Southampton Street project included the refurbishment of eight office floors averaging 3,400sq ft set as mainly open plan office space, a stunning new entrance and reception area along with the relocation of new plant areas.   The new Cat A installation was carried out by international construction services company ISG Plc on a full design and build contract with the lighting control system supplied and installed by Designer Group, Hammersmith.

The Rapid system is fully addressable and networkable, combining state of the art technology with an easy to use graphical user interface. Rapid’s modular controls are networked together on each floor whilst multi floor layouts are linked together using Rapid Area Controllers.  At Southampton Street, the Rapid system connects to CP’s light level sensors which allows for further energy savings to be achieved as the daylight supplements the light levels within the office space and adjusts light levels accordingly.  Rapid has also provided scene setting within the building, allowing for specific areas such as meeting rooms that may be used for multimedia presentations to create and recall desired room lighting levels.   Switching between scenes is made simple and convenient with a stylish scene control panel.
