Provider of quality hand tools and security solutions, Carl Kammerling International, is supporting Team UK in the WorldSkills Competition 2015 in São Paulo, by sponsoring Adrian Canning, a former apprentice at North West Regional College, Northern Ireland, who now runs his own business, A C Electrical.
As part of a commitment made by Carl Kammerling International to develop bright ‘sparkies’ of the future, the C.K Bright Sparks programme was established to help promote vocational education programmes as an attractive option and a viable career path.
Adrian, 22, from Dungiven, trained as an electrician at North West Regional College, Northern Ireland, which benefits from the C.K Bright Sparks programme. Showing great potential and growth over the course of his training, Adrian was selected to compete for a place in Squad and Team UK after excelling in the WorldSkills UK Skills Competitions.
Taking place every two years, the WorldSkills Competition is the largest vocational, education and skills excellence event in the world. The competitors represent the best of their peers and are selected from over 60 countries and regions that are members of WorldSkills. As part of Team UK, Adrian and his 40 teammates – all aged between 18 and 25 – will demonstrate technical abilities both individually and collectively, to execute specific tasks for which they study and will perform in the future.
Carl Kammerling’s quality tool brand, C.K tools is providing all the tools required for Adrian to participate in the electrical installation section of the competition, which will take place in August, 2015.
On being selected for the chance to participate in the prestigious competition, Adrian commented: “This is a fantastic opportunity for me to showcase what I have learned so far at college. I am very grateful for the generous support of Carl Kammerling International, and look forward to using the specialist tools they are providing for me to perform to the best of my abilities in São Paulo this summer.”
Supporting the next generation of tradesmen is high on the agenda at C.K tools, which, since 2003, has supported over 22,500 apprentice electricians as part of its Bright Sparks initiative.
Bright Sparks began with three colleges, but 12 years later, the scheme has grown significantly. C.K tools now provides 60 colleges and universities across the UK with a bursary and a selection of quality tools to use while training, helping to ensure the future development of professionals within the industry, while also promoting the use of the safest and best quality hand tools.
