Swansea-based RDM Electrical and Mechanical Services has been awarded its third contract at the value of approximately £4.5m for the design and build of the next phase of the new £450m Swansea University Bay Campus being developed on Fabian Way by St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialistdave kieft profile image

The third contract for RDM will see further works on the mechanical and engineering elements of the campus in partnership with contractor VINCI Construction UK and St. Modwen.

In 2013, RDM won its initial contract with the new university campus for the design and build of the electrical and mechanical services on the student accommodation and support offices.

While delivering the first phase of the project, RDM tendered and won the second phase of accommodation on the Bay Campus, which was being built for St. Modwen by Galliford Try and valued at £3.7m.

With the accumulation of the three contracts won by RDM, the company has secured approximately £15m of work on the Bay Campus, representing a significant opportunity for the company to offer employment and training opportunities for local people.

Dave Kieft, director and co-owner of RDM Electrical and Mechanical Services, said:

“We are extremely pleased to have been awarded this contract, our third for the Swansea University Bay Campus. These successes allow RDM to continue with its investment and growth plans and shows the commitment of our team in maintaining clients, and delivering a quality design and build product at a fair and marketable value.

“We continue to invest in our operations to ensure that the quality we deliver does not reduce at the expense of turnover, which is very important to our ever expanding client base.”
