Integrated power specialist, Socomec, has created an inspection package for its range of ATyS switches, offering the ultimate protection for an organisation’s critical assets, infrastructure and people.

The market leading range of ATyS motorised and automatic changeover switches – designed and manufactured by Socomec – is deployed in the most challenging applications around the world; specifically engineered to be maintenance free, it is one of the most reliable changeover switches available today.

The critical nature of applications in which Socomec ATyS products are deployed – combined with the rigorous demands of insurers and bodies concerned with building safety – mean that some organisations choose to have their change-over switches routinely inspected by qualified engineers for complete peace of mind.

Colin Dean Managing Director, Socomec UK comments; “Socomec has extensive experience in delivering the most robust, reliable and efficient power and energy performance solutions for use in mission critical and life safety applications.  We work hard to anticipate our customers’ challenges and needs, investing in the development of technology that makes the best use of the existing infrastructure and delivers guaranteed power.  We also recognise that our customers take safety and performance extremely seriously – both in terms of ensuring business continuity as well as guaranteeing safe operation.  We developed our range of switches to be maintenance free, but also appreciate that some our customers benefit from the additional reassurance of an annual visit by our expert engineering team.”

High quality engineering support is a vital component of any business continuity plan; Socomec’s inspection services are a must-have for any organisation wishing to protect its critical assets and optimise performance.

Dean continues; “As the original manufacturer, our engineering team has a superior understanding of changeover technology, the product itself and its software.  The team has depth and breadth of experience in inspection safety procedures and unrivalled expertise in equipment integration within a customer’s unique working environment.  The inspection process can reduce the risk of potential faults going undetected; in turn, this can mitigate against loss or earnings and inefficiencies by minimising the MTTR as well as the cost of repairs – avoiding costly downtime and reducing the risk of operating losses.  An installation will have high availability – guaranteed – and performance will be optimised.  Furthermore, all critical points will be secured and controlled.”

The packages are tailored around customers’ needs, taking into account individual operating constraints, a particular business’ activity and the unique level of criticality associated with a specific application.

An annual, one-off visit is ideal for organisations that would like the reassurance of a regular check-up by the manufacturer, combined with the benefit of the latest firmware updates, full testing reports and conformance certification.

A Socomec engineer will carry out an inspection procedure which certifies that the ATyS is functioning correctly. After each procedure the engineer will produce a detailed inspection report.  The report will list every asset inspected, detailing the work carried out on each switch and highlight any issues identified.

If a problem is identified on an out of warranty switch, the switch will be repaired and any defective part will be replaced at no extra cost to the customer.
