3M has announced it has entered a distributor partnership with Elmeridge Cable Services (ECS) to provide a turnkey service for supplying and installing Extra High Voltage (EHV) Joints and Terminations from 3M.
In 2012, 3M launched the first ever range of Cold Shrink Joints and Terminations for High Voltage (HV) electrical networks in the UK and Ireland, from 72kV up to 145kV. These new products are the latest addition to the Cold Shrink range for medium and low voltage applications.
Integral to this product range is the partnership agreement with ECS and its ability to provide an in-house team of engineers and highly trained specialist cable jointers who can provide a rapid response across installation, maintenance and upgrades, using the 3M High Voltage product range.
Neil Roberts, general manager, electrical markets for 3M, said, “We’ve expanded our range over the past two years, from low to high voltage, including joints, terminations, resins, tapes and many other products. This strategic relationship will help us continue to improve our service to key customers installing 132kV. Working with ECS will ensure the high quality and reliable products provided by 3M are installed with confidence by ECS trained installers. Working together, we can jointly grow and develop the 3M offering and support our growing market share in this important sector. 3M has invested heavily in its differentiated 132kV offering and looks forward to a successful trading relationship with ECS in the years ahead.”
Jim Attwood, managing director for ECS added, “ECS is a provider of specialist solutions for customers’ high voltage cable networks. It is important for us to be working with a well recognised and reputable manufacturer of these components. At these voltage levels there is no room for poor quality in the manufacture or assembly of the products. The ease of installation and range of cable sizes supported by 3M is a big advantage and means that we can respond quickly to a variety of customer requirements.”
