Thorlux Lighting successfully becomes a ‘LIA Laboratories Registered Photometric Laboratory’

Feb 2, 2015 | Lighting

The LIA Laboratories have announced Thorlux Lighting as its first LIA Laboratories Registered Photometric Laboratory’. These registered certification schemes are operated by the LIA Laboratories which is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Lighting Industry Association (the LIA).

The Sphere Photometry scheme verifies the capability of a manufacturer’s laboratory to test all the normal types of lighting products using an integrating sphere and the Gonio Photometry scheme verifies the capability of a manufacturer’s laboratory to test all the normal types of lighting products using a far field gonio-photometer.

The importance of these Schemes is that they provide an assurance of the validity of the photometric data published by manufacturers in relation to the performance of their lighting products.

Available to all lighting equipment manufacturers, the certification schemes scope is with regard to their testing capabilities for the measurement of their own manufactured products.

Manufacturers like Thorlux Lighting, who meet the requirements of the schemes, are permitted to describe their Laboratory as a ‘LIA Laboratories Registered Photometric Laboratory’ and the publishing of this statement, endorsed by the reputation of the LIA Laboratories (Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025), gives an assurance of the validity of data to Thorlux Lighting customers.
