Composites specialist, MCL Group Industries, will be exhibiting at Utility Week Live at the NEC in Birmingham from May 17-18 on stand D46. To give visitors a feel for the latest technological developments in the field of utility and infrastructure composites, the MCL Group stand will feature a demonstration of the latest in above ground and underground technology. Visitors from utility companies, contractors, councils and highways agencies are invited to view the demonstration at the event.

The demonstration will be located in the streetworks village at Utility Week Live where visitors can experience the latest composite technologies including utility meter boxes, substation doors, underground access chambers and road plates. The demonstration is designed to show the way that composite materials play important roles in everyday life, both at street level and underground.

MCL Group Industries will be drawing particular attention to its composite substation door sets. These are designed to be used on substations made of brick and can be easily fitted into existing structures due to the lightweight, robust and weatherproof properties of the composite material. MCL will also be demonstrating how its lightweight composite road plate can be locked down in minutes without drilling and pinning the road surface.

“Many don’t realise it but composite materials now offer a range of properties,” explained Nick Cowley, group managing director of MCL Group. “Our ability to refine the composite formula makes it ideal for use in utility and infrastructure products. The benefits they offer in many applications make these products both cost effective and time efficient.

“Although composite products are all around us in our daily lives, they often go unnoticed. Meter boxes, for example, are important in both residential and industrial environments and for safety reasons they need to be made of reliable materials, incorporating, among other things, flame retardant constituents.”

Anybody interested in discovering MCL Group’s range of composite materials can do so in the streetworks village of Utilities Week Live, May 17-18.  Utilities companies looking to learn about the benefits of composite materials can speak to MCL Group’s technical specialists on stand D46.
