Simplifying on-site connection

Feb 8, 2012 | Cables and Accessories

Wieland has recently introduced its new gesis RAN DC Combiner Boxes which have been designed for simple connection on-site, even for protective ground. The new combiner boxes have connector sockets and a ground feed-through on the exterior of the IP65 rated junction box. All this makes opening combiner boxes on-site to connect cables a thing of the past.

Wieland’s gesis RAN DC combiner boxes are pre-installed and factory tested with terminal blocks, fuses, overvoltage protection modules and DC switch connectors etc, to suit customer requirements. The previous installation method that involved opening the boxes to make connections, transferred the responsibility for ensuring the degree of protection to the installer. To combat harsh weather conditions and guarantee the IP65 protection level, the combiner boxes have an all-round seal and pressure compensation seals to prevent condensation.

Another benefit of the new gesis RAN DC is the ground feed-through in the combiner box which is fitted at the factory and then connected on-site which in turn, speeds up installation time. The ground feed-through is manufactured from nickel plated brass which offers a high degree of resistance to corrosion and it is well suited for M8 narrow tubular lugs up to 150mm2 conductor cross section. The internal terminal body of the ground feed-through accommodates conductor cross sections of up to 35mm2.
