Super Rod, the Blaenavon-based manufacturer of installation tools for electricians, has just been awarded its second Queen’s Award in four years.
Following its award for Innovation in 2008, Super Rod has now been awarded one for International Trade. Commenting on the award, managing director, Malcolm Duncan said, “We have always known we have a great product but to see the response we get when we show our range in a country for the first time is amazing.
“The last couple of years have been a challenge for the company as we’ve been faced with imitation products from the Far East, along with a forced factory move last year.
“We hope our success and awards inspire other designers and inventors and shows that manufacturing is not dead in Wales. With great people around you anything can be achieved.”
