Building Services Engineering provider, Proline, has given workers on two of its [Manchester] sites a taste for collaboration and team bonding this week after launching its innovative ‘Breakfast Butty Boost’ scheme.

Bringing a breakfast butty and a chance to chat to more than 180 construction workers at the Port Street and X1 Plaza residential developments on the edge of Manchester’s Northern Quarter over two days (24th and 25th January), the people-focused company aims to help colleagues across the whole of the sites to take a few minutes out to de-stress, re-boot and get to know their co-workers.

Designed to provide construction workers with a hearty start to the day, the Proline Breakfast Butty Boost will bring subcontractor trades together on site, along with management and supervisory personnel, to enhance communication between teams and encourage a more friendly and open culture. The initiative is intended to boost morale along with calorie in-take, both of which are vital components of a productive working day.

Explains managing director of Proline, Michael Fraser: “As a company, we always aim to go above and beyond what’s required of us to look for ways in which we can enhance a project for the client, the delivery team and all stakeholder groups.

“Bringing a hot breakfast to site is a simple idea but we knew it was an initiative that site workers would really appreciate and one that would bring them together, offering them an opportunity to meet colleagues, chat and relax for five minutes on a cold January day. Collaboration is a critical component in the success of any construction project and we believe this is a very practical way of encouraging a cohesive team approach.”

Following the success of the Port Street and X1 Plaza Breakfast Butty Boosts, Proline plans to roll out the idea to other sites each month over 2018.
