Scottish-headquartered engineering group RSE (Ross-Shire Engineering) late last week completed the acquisition of Darlington company Sheers, a leading provider of modular chemical dosing and control systems for the water, chemical and UK energy sectors.

The deal will see RSE take up a majority equity share in the business whilst retaining the key skills of the Sheers team. RSE Managing Director, Allan Dallas, commented:

“The UK Water Sector faces significant environmental challenges in the coming years. The removal of Phosphorous from wastewater is one such challenge and can be addressed by RSE’s award winning modular treatment products. The engineering talent and manufacturing expertise in Sheers will enhance RSE’s offering in this space and provide closer access to markets in Northern England.”

Sheers Managing Director, Roy Warren, welcomed the partnership as a timely support to Sheer’s growth ambitions. “Since forming Sheers over 35 years ago, we have enjoyed sustained year-on-year growth. We are hoping to continue this journey with greater capacity and technical support from our new colleagues at RSE.

“As our customers seek out cost-effective and carbon-reducing solutions to their projects, we feel confident the products and innovations developed by RSE will only strengthen our offering to the market.”

Sheers has been successfully delivering engineered products and associated products to an enviable list of clients for over three decades.

Specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of standard and customised modular chemical dosing and control systems for water, chemical and energy applications, Sheers’ in-house design expertise, project management and manufacturing facilities allow the company to service clients from initial feasibility and budget forecasting through to design, build, installation and commissioning. It is one of a handful of UK companies with specialist expertise and experience in successfully managing chlorine installation projects.

Sheers has an enviable track record in delivering safe and reliable systems, priding itself on the numerous long-term working relationships and framework contracts it enjoys with leading operators in the water, chemical and energy sectors.
