A range of SMD PTCs for low cost over temperature protection of electronic circuits is now available from ATC Semitec.
The TPM series chip PTCs are available in 0402, 0603 and 0805 size packages and exhibit a step function change in their resistance at their ‘switch point’. This makes them easy to incorporate into electronic circuits with various temperature set points available from 65°C to 135°C.
They are well suited for use up to 32V DC and have UL/c-UL approval. The TPM series can function as solid state thermal switches and provide over temperature protection.
