Power solutions in a box

Manufacturer of uninterruptible power supplies, Riello UPS, talks to Electrical Engineering magazine about its newly launched containerised solution, PowerBox

Providing critical systems with a site specific power solution, Riello’s new PowerBox solution can be easily deployed and installed wherever and whenever needed, with minimal impact on existing plant room and facilities.

Each PowerBox contains all of the necessary switchgear and distribution panels to deliver uninterruptible power from a combination power solution. This can include a Riello UPS, a flywheel energy storage system, battery packs and a suitably rated generator.
PowerBox provides a power solution with zero down-time and is easily installed with components within a stand alone 20ft or 40ft container.
General manager of Riello UPS, Robin Koffler, said, “One of the main reasons the PowerBox solution was created was so that you no longer need dedicated space in your data centre facility or plant room for UPS. This allows for more of the building to be used for critical IT infrastructure. This is especially useful on brownfield sites where space may be limited.

“Also, containerised power solutions meet Riello’s stringent requirements for eco-friendly power protection systems as their high operating efficiency saves energy and reduces operating costs.”
Containerised power solutions are available for short term hire to allow clients to perform their own on-site tests prior to purchase or provide clean, resilient power for a specific event or project.
Riello PowerBox is a power solution that is well suited for modular data centres requiring a scalable power system, city data centre sites requiring additional power, public events requiring reliable additional short term power, such as the Olympics, and military and remote communications installations.
In addition, Riello UPS offer CPD certified training seminars on the PowerBox solution.
