Electric and Hybrid Vehicle insulation monitoring and charge control technology will dominate Bender UK’s stand C3-406 at Cenex LCV Low Carbon Vehicle event at Millbrook Proving Ground.

Bender is setting the standard in the development of safe, compliant electrical safety technology for the electric and hybrid vehicle market world-wide.

Bender produced its first vehicle insulation monitor for a customised military project over a decade ago. Today we are a key supplier of insulation monitoring for hybrid and electric vehicles to ensure the safety of personnel, prevent the risk of electric shock, and to provide early warning of developing electrical faults in vehicles, drive systems and batteries.

Bender made headway in the e-mobility market through pioneering relationships with Formula 1, Formula E and Moto Student racing teams – and has built on that experience to produce monitoring solutions for new generation vehicles world-wide including London’s hybrid powered electric buses.

For electric vehicle charging Bender has produced a range of components and solutions including charge stations, control technology and modular kits in off-the-shelf and customised formats.

The CC612 is an OCPP 1.5/1.6 compliant charge controller, designed to monitor charge station internal hardware. This proven Mode-3 technology is built into Bender’s Chargespot Berlin charge station and is also used by third-party manufacturers to monitor the integrity of their own charge stations. CC612 universally connects to customer billing systems and is compatible with backend software packages.

Chargespot Berlin is a complete Mode-3 electric vehicle charge station providing safe, fast charging for public and commercial applications. It is designed to mount on streetlight columns, street furniture and walls and is perfectly suited to own brand charge stations, with the benefit of being off-the-shelf, reducing the time and cost of development and testing.

Bender also supplies market-ready charge station kits – a suite of components for implementation into a customer’s own solution. The kits contain proven internal components for charge station production, delivering a much-reduced cost and faster route to market for charge station developers.

Bender also manufactures sensors for use in applications such as vehicle charging. The RCMB121 6mA DC sensor is designed to detect DC earth faults more cost-effectively than using a type B RCD. This sensor activates automatic shut-down in the event of hazardous electrical faults occurring and ensures compliance with BS7671:2018 ensuring maximum safety at a considerably lower cost.
