UK Power Networks is hosting its first ever Net Zero Networks Forum, on Wednesday 11 March in London.

The network operator’s electric vehicle (EV) team will share insights on key projects including the world’s biggest EV fleet trial and how it is exploring the potential of ‘smart charging’ and ‘vehicle to grid’ (V2G) technology. Its EV strategy is committed to a ‘customer centric, market-led, data-driven approach that will allow everyone to be able to charge where they want, when they want, at an affordable cost.

The company’s Low Carbon Technologies team will also discuss strategies for facilitating the decarbonisation of heat, and consider the practical steps required to create a collaborative, expert-led approach to reaching ‘Net Zero’ carbon emissions by 2050. The forum will also discuss strategies to ensure that people from all backgrounds benefit from the low carbon revolution.

The event will be an opportunity to share learnings from organisation’sat the frontline of enabling a low-carbon economy – including local authorities, sustainability professionals, government, policy specialists, engineers, gas and electricity networks and academics.

The forum will also raise money for National Energy Action (NEA), a charity working to end fuel poverty in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The NEA helped UK Power Networks with its award-winning Energywise project, which explored how DNOs can work collaboratively with energy suppliers and locally-trusted organisations to deliver energy savings for low income households.

Giulia Privitera, Low Carbon Technologies delivery manager at UK Power Networks, said: “The electricity networks have a critical role to play in delivering Net Zero by 2050. No organisation or sector can achieve this alone, and so collaboration is crucial to achieving a sustainable low-carbon economy that works for everyone. No matter where you work or what experience you can bring to this important conversation, we would be delighted if you can join us.”

The Net Zero Networks Forum will take place 9.30am to 4.30pm on March 112020, at Coin Street Neighbourhood Centre, 108 Stamford Street, London, SE1 9NH. Register here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/uk-power-networks-net-zero-network-forum-tickets-90600792409
