The new Emergency Care Centre at Aberdeen Royal Hospital is to be supplied with a metal clad modular wiring system from Apex Wiring Solutions.

The new 20,000m2 centre, located on a self contained 125 acre site, will provide improved patient care facilities including A&E, acute medical assessment, ward accommodation and a primary care out of hours service.

Modular wiring has been specified to cut electrical installation times, reduce on-site waste and provide a pre-wired factory tested power and lighting system. The Apex system will utilise pre-wired factory tested pluggable distribution boards to supply lighting and high and low level power throughout the facility.

Dave Lewis, managing director of Apex, said that the use of prefabricated connectors and pre-assembled cables provides a high performance, reliable and flexible wiring solution which delivers significant improvements over hard wired systems, reducing on-site installation times by up to 70%.

He said, “The time saving and environmental benefits of modular wiring systems are becoming increasingly recognised in the UK, enabling electrical contractors to complete even the most complex installations quicker and more efficiently than ever before.”
