B.E.G. celebrates its 40th year anniversary as a specialist of lighting controls and energy-saving solutions this month.

The German manufacturer founded in 1975 by and still owned by the Brück family as Brück Electronic, began developing emergency lighting and exit sign products for commercial businesses.

In 1986, B.E.G. became one of the first companies in Germany to manufacture motion detectors for automatic lighting control.  Today, it is recognised in Europe as one of the oldest and most respected producers of indoor and outdoor motion, occupancy and vacancy sensors for energy saving in buildings.

B.E.G operates directly in Germany, France, UK, Italy, Denmark, Belgium, Holland, Hungary, Spain, Poland, and Czech Republic and this year brought its products to the USA with the launch of a new company, B.E.G Controls in Atlanta, Georgia. The company also moved its headquarters to a new state-of-the-art facility in Lindlar, near Cologne in Germany.

B.E.G has not slowed down in developing, manufacturing and distributing solutions for intelligent building automation. In the last 12 months, it has released a range of new products in the United Kingdom, many of which it launched at Light + Building in Germany – the world’s leading trade fair for lighting and building services technology.

The company introduced a new occupancy sensor, the Luxomat PD4, which keeps buildings using two power supply circuits illuminated even when one fails. The two-phase sensor is ideal for hospitals and data centres as it can be connected to two different AC circuits.

This was followed by the launch of the new KNX sensor box, an intelligent building control system, with integrated DALI/KNX gateway, designed to give building managers complete control over the everyday working environment. The KNX puts all of these multi-task functions that used to be controlled separately into one system for maximum flexibility, operating performance and energy efficiency.

Last summer, the B.E.G. Luxomatic FL2N-LED-230 LED floodlight won the prestigious Plus X Award - the world’s largest award that honours manufacturers of technology, sport and lifestyle products – for the Best Product of the Year in 2014. It was also recognised for four out of the seven categories including High Quality, East of Use, Functionality and Ecology at the awards ceremony night in Cologne, Germany.

B.E.G rounded off 2014 with the new super-flat 1mm occupancy sensor that detects motion and light within an area of up to 9m and the Luxomat PD4 which can divide up the connected lights into four groups simply and easily, making it ideal for classrooms.

It began this year with the launch of the Luxomat Indoor 140-L – a wall mounted occupancy sensor with built in LED light.  This can be used as a night light and guide light by simply selecting the desired brightness via the built-in pushbutton.

B.E.G’s most recent activity has been the launch of its free remote control app for Apple and Android smartphones which means it is now even easier to use and control its range of Luxomat occupancy sensors. The app makes it simple to set up and configure all sensors so there is no need for a PC and no central hub is required. At a push of a button on the smartphone, all the necessary parameters to the sensor can be sent to the sensor, such as run on times, lights levels etc.

B.E.G. director for UK & Ireland Paul Jones said: “B.E.G’s 40th anniversary is a tremendous milestone for the company and we are very proud of this achievement.

“B.E.G. has stood the test of the time and after four decades is still providing building control solutions to our customers, and we are very grateful for their support and encouragement in allowing us to continue to develop solutions for their needs. Customer satisfaction at the heart of everything we do. “

“B.E.G. has introduced some fantastic innovations to the industry and in the last year alone has launched new occupancy sensors, KNX, night lights and our fabulous free downloadable smartphone app with more new products on the way in 2015.”
