For outstanding environmental protection of your equipment, our UL Approved IP68 1554/1555 polycarbonate and general purpose IP66 ABS enclosures are ideal.

The 1554 and 1555 families

Our polycarbonate (pc) 1554/1555 IP68 sealed enclosures are available in 32 sizes from 66mm x 66mm x 41mm to 300mm x 240mm x 120mm. They are suitable for use in both indoor and outdoor installation in a diverse range of applications that continues to expand as sub-systems and HMI units are installed in harsh environments throughout the factory floor and beyond. Full height and reduced height versions are available; the shallower units are suitable for applications where SMT PCBs, slimline displays, miniature switches, touchscreens and solid-state relays reduces the internal volume required from the enclosure. Add in the fact that many HMI units are wall mounted, where a deeper unit will stand off unnecessarily far from the wall, and the trend towards reduced height enclosures is obvious. The pc versions have cUL and UL 508A listing (File # E65324), and are tested to IP68 (NEMA Type 4, 4X, 6, 6P, 12 and 13). The family is also available moulded in UL94-HB ABS, sealed to IP66 and designed for general purpose applications, primarily indoors.

The difference between the 1554 and the 1555 is in the lid design. The 1554 range has an opaque RAL 7035 grey flat lid or a clear or smoked flat lid on a RAL 7035 grey base. The 1555 enclosures have a styled RAL 7035 opaque lid, with a recess suitable for membrane keyboards, labels or other I/O indicators and panel components.

1554/1555 key features

  • The polycarbonate versions are UV stabilized for outdoor use. The grey material has a UL94-5VA flammability rating, the clear and smoked lids are rated UL94V-0.
  • All sizes are also available in ABS, sealed to IP66, with a flammability rating of UL94-HB for general purpose indoor use.
  • The lid is secured with self-captivated M4 stainless steel machine screws, threaded into integral bushes for repetitive assembly and disassembly.
  • Opaque, clear, plain, smoked and recessed lids.
  • Optional 1.6mm galvanised steel panels for all sizes for mounting heavier components.
  • Optional kits of four polycarbonate feet.
  • Clear polycarbonate replacement lids are available as accessories.
  • Internal features vary with size:

Internal DIN rail mounting tabs moulded into most sizes.

M3 threaded brass inserts and/or standoffs for PCB or inner panel mounting in all but the smallest B size.

The 1555F flanged family

The 23 sizes of 1555F flanged versions feature styled recessed bases. They have integral flanges moulded into the lid, which when used to secure the enclosure to the wall also prevents the enclosure being opened without removing it from the mounting surface. There are 23 sizes from 65mm x 65mm x 42mm to 240mm x 161mm x 61mm.

1555F key features
