A team from Electrical Power Engineering Company, Fundamentals Ltd, recently took on the ultimate 24-hour National Three Peaks challenge and have so far raised over £1,600 for IET Connect.

On September 1st, 2017 a team of 15 walkers, predominately Fundamentals employees along with a few friends and colleagues from group company Ferranti Tapchangers Ltd, took on the highest peaks in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon). Led by Fundamentals Managing Director, Dr Jonathan Hiscock, the team took on the peaks to raise money for engineering industry charity, IET Connect.

Hiscock said: “It was no easy challenge but it was worthwhile and I’m delighted to be able give something back to our industry. So far we have raised over £1,700. We’re really grateful to everyone who has donated and supported our cause.”

The team started their challenge at the bottom of Ben Nevis at 6am on September 1st, 2017 and finished it 24-hours later at the bottom of Snowdon. Over 26-miles were walked and one team member clocked a whopping 65,000 steps. It was no easy feat but with a great team, both trekking and supporting, they completed it in fine form.

IET Connect is the Benevolent Fund of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). This wonderful charity plays an integral part in helping IET members and their immediate families in times of need; from legal advice and getting back into employment to counselling and financial assistance.
