The latest apprenticeship recruitment figures from JTL are indicating that economic confidence is rising in the electrical contracting and maintenance sector.

The charitable company has produced figures that show more than an 11% increase in electrical apprenticeship recruitment over the previous year ending July 2012. At the same time the proportion of timely completions through JTL grew to 95%. A timely completion represents an apprentice who has successfully completed their apprenticeship programme within the originally planned timespan.

“It’s been a tough year but I believe all our field staff are deserving of thanks and congratulations in meeting the needs of so many employers,” said Denis Hird, chief executive of JTL.

“I am also delighted with the rising demand for our professional development training programmes. This indicates that the electrical sector is increasingly valuing short courses that help ensure than both knowledge and personal accreditation is kept up to date.”

Indicators across the economy are showing rising employer confidence and in July the retail sector experienced its best performance since 2006. Home building and other aspects of construction are also being stimulated by the Help to Buy programme and so demand for skilled people across all parts of construction and building services engineering is rising.
