Inmoco has recently added the DC Trombone to its range of digital servo drives from Elmo Motion Control. Based on Elmo’s SimplIQ motion control technology, the DC Trombone operates directly from the mains and delivers no less than 7kW of continuous qualitative power.

The DC Trombone is suitable for integration into any motion system, either stand alone or multi-axis, providing a motion control unit for use with sinusoidal, trapezoidal and DC motors. It features high power density, and integrates vector control sinusoidal commutation, advanced filtering and velocity gain scheduling for enhanced dynamic performance. Further features include programming flexibility, CANopen networking and a range of feedback options.

An integral part of the DC Trombone is Elmo’s SimplIQ technology which combines advanced motion control with real time networking capabilities, and delivers feedback and I/O options and programming capabilities. SimplIQ enables the DC Trombone to achieve precision in a range of applications.

Integrating the DC Trombone into automated applications is accomplished using Elmo’s third generation Composer software. A universal programming language, Composer enables single or multi-axis set-ups, manual and automatic tuning of current, velocity and position loops, a motion monitor and scope for testing, network monitoring and debugging tools, and also facilitates communication via serial RS-232 and CANopen.

The DC Trombone is available in a Standard or Advanced version and operates with a DC bus range of 50V DC up to 750V DC. It has a built-in smart supply for controlling back-up capabilities and it can also operate with a 24V DC auxiliary power supply for back-up features. The servo drive also offers a range of feedback options including encoders, resolvers, tachometers and potentiometers.
