A quartet of amateur cyclists look set to smash their target of raising money for a lifesaving charity as they prepare for a 500 mile tour around Cambridgeshire, Essex, Lincolnshire, Norfolk and Suffolk

The four, Aaron Beck, David Youngs, Malcolm Tuff and Nigel Jeavons all work for Hughes Electrical and will be visiting its 34 shops in East Anglia between 6-10 June. They will be hitting the road to raise £5,000 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and are confident of raising much more.

“We are already very close to our target and are very optimistic that by the time we finish we will have broken it by some margin,” said Nigel Jeavons. “There is still time for businesses and individuals across the region to sponsor our journey.

“However much, or little, the sponsorship is it all counts and the money will be going to an organisation that saves lives 365 days a year. “All of us are keen cyclists but 30-40 miles a day is usually our limit so we have each been undertaking our own training regime to enable us to tackle 100 miles on five consecutive days.”

The bike ride will be taking in the following Hughes stores in June, starting each day at 0830 and looking to finish in King’s Lynn at around 1700 on Friday.
