The first amendment to the 17th Edition of the wiring regulations has been in effect since 1st January 2012.
The amendment incorporates many changes, including:
- operating and maintenance gangways
- changes to certification and reporting
- electromagnetic influences
- surge protection devices
MCP is offering a training course that aims to ensure installations comply with the Electricity at Work regulations.
Although the 17th Edition of the IET Regulations is non-statutory, the company maintains that compliance with them ensures that installations comply with the EaWR. The recent amendments in 2008 and most recently 2011 have included a multitude of changes and tradesmen are encouraged by the organisation to remain up to date, to ensure that they are not working and testing to the wrong specifications.
