James Beresford will be highlighting changes to central power supply systems at the ICEL Technical Forum on Wednesday 9th July.

James Beresford, from Mackwell, will be stressing the importance of understanding recent changes and improvements to EN50171, as well as detailing the reasons for these specific changes.

This information is valuable to anyone who is currently unfamiliar with the standard or is looking to grasp how these changes may affect them and any projects that they may work on in the future.

Beresford will cover the different types of central power supplies and how advancement in technology has forced a recent shift in the types of systems now being adopted. All technology comes with its own benefits and drawbacks and these will also be covered within the presentation, as well as looking at intelligent ways to optimise battery lifetime and further understand battery technology.

“Understanding the importance of central battery systems and current legislations is crucial, especially when dealing with other wiring and luminaire standards.  Emergency lighting has been at the core of Mackwell for 35 years and we have always been proud to promote emergency lighting standards and new developments to be at the forefront of lighting technology,” said James Beresford.
