In the scope of her traditional Hannover Messe visit, Angela Merkel visited the stand of electro engineering specialist Weidmüller.

She was accompanied by US President Barack Obama, as the USA is the Messe partner country this year. During their joint visit the two politicians attended a total of several stands from companies making waves in the industry with their outstanding solutions. Dr Peter Köhler, Chief Executive Officer of the Weidmüller group said: “This visit is an honour for us and at the same time distinct recognition that our efforts and innovations concerning Industry 4.0 are not only very well received by our customers but also by the public sector.”

The two state heads took great interest in the Industry 4.0 Cockpit at the Weidmüller stand. A sample application demonstrated how the central control of a production facility of the future could look. It combines the wide range of Industry 4.0 solutions implemented by Weidmüller to date into a single exhibit. The Cockpit shows on one hand the networking of technical systems and on the other, integrated solution approaches for customers. Industry 4.0 solutions were presented for the application areas of Industrial Analytics, Cloud Services, Energy Management, Digitalisation and Networking as well as for Data Consistency. “The topic of networking in particular,” continues Dr Peter Köhler, “is an extremely exciting field for the USA because of the high level of software competence in the country. During their visit the two politicians gained an in-depth insight into the topic of industrial networking at various stands. We are proud that we could also make our contribution to their visit.”
