Carbon8Lighing has always firmly believed that getting lighting right is important for the energy efficiency of a building and the well-being of its occupants, as the right level and quality of light improves the alertness and accuracy of those working in it. In some buildings, lighting is the largest single category of electricity consumption and up to 40% of a building’s electricity use is accounted for by lighting. The 2008 Climate Change Act made Britain the first country in the world to set legally binding ‘carbon budgets’, aiming to cut UK emissions by at least 80 percent by 2050.

Now a Carbon Trust Accredited Supplier, Carbon8 is able to deliver energy saving projects which could be part-funded through the Capital Contributions available. The Carbon Trust is a not-for-profit company that provides specialist support to help businesses and the public sector cut carbon emissions, save energy and commercialise low carbon technologies. The Carbon Trust will be lending money to SME’s (small to medium enterprises) towards the funding of such projects over the next two years, and the loans will be structured to enable projects to proceed with no capital outlay by the borrower.

The Carbon Trust, working closely with Carbon8 can offer advice to companies wanting to make considerable savings on their energy bills by a simple lighting upgrade.  With the anticipated energy savings offset against the loan repayments, application is straightforward with no arrangement fees.  A conditional offer will then be received within 10 working days of the application being processed and loans are repaid over a period of up to 4 years.
