Cabling leader supports marking campaign

Leading cabling provider Concordia Technologies is adding weight to the campaign to stamp out non approved products with a new awareness programme.

The approved cables initiative has updated its cable reference card to reflect the new requirements for cable markings, including examples and a cable safety checklist.

Angela Holdsworth, general manager of Concordia Technologies, said, “We fully endorse this initiative and we are actively taking steps to help all of our customers become more aware of the dangers of purchasing non compliant cabling”.

“The examples of correct cable markings clarifiy what to look out for, if these don’t exist for whatever reason then we advise caution at all times”.

“The cable safety checklist is also extremely useful, particularly to ensure tr0aceability back to the cable manufacturer, including the unique identifier number that should come with it in case there are any problems.” The ACI is asking anyone with any concerns or suspicions about a cable to contact them on 020 8946 6978 or e-mail report@aci.org.uk for advice and assistance. The ACI is recommending that a short sample of about five metres is taken of any suspicious looking cable for examination and testing.
