This month I was lucky enough to attend the Electrical Distributors Association (EDA) centenary lunch held at Kensington Palace to celebrate the association’s 100th birthday. As well as an overview of the association’s history, there was also discussion around the key issues moving forward – one of which was meeting energy reduction targets while at the same time meeting the expected increase in electricity demand. Also highlighted was the opportunity for wholesalers in the new control and automation systems in buildings, plus the issue of training, skills and women in the industry.
As for our combined July/August issue, features include batteries & chargers, where Accutronics explain how the company has achieved ISO 13485:2003 accreditation for the design and manufacture of medical devices; enclosures, where Chris Lloyd of Spelsberg takes a closer look at the changing market trends in enclosure manufacture, supply and demand; and test & measurement, where we take a look at Crestchic’s installation of loadbanks which has helped safeguard critical data and the livelihood of scientists at the British Antarctic Survey (BAS).
We will also be previewing the Sensors & Instrumentation show, which will be taking place at the Birmingham NEC at the end of September, as well as the ever-popular Energy Event.
In addition, this month Schneider Electric provides an insight into its training initiatives, and PP Electrical Systems offers some advice on how to achieve compliance in the US market.
